Class 1, 18th Feb: We had a very large group today and it will be interesting to see how many people we retain during our 8 week course. All but one were women and this was heartening. We discussed various parts of the computer, how to use the mouse, and even touched on ergonomics.

However, the students did well and seemed to learn a fair bit from the class. We also looked into how to change desktop settings. I think some of them enjoyed doing this.

GUR 1

inherIT launched the year with a one off class at the Glenwood gurudwara for the womens support group run in conjunction with the SMSI (Sydwest Multicultural Services Inc..

We did a few excercises (typing up the national anthem and a recipe) since many of the women were more advanced. We discussed a recipe book project and the women were encouraged to type up their own recipes which could later by compiled into a recipe book.

Next week will probably see this group work on a more advanced excercise in excel, the outcome of which will be reported in this post since we only have 2 classes with this group
